Daily News : Heavy wind on day two of the Open Dutch Championship let the sailors work hard

From ashore it doesn’t look so windy then it was on the water, it started with 20 knots but at the end of the day it was 25 knots. It gave beautiful long waves on which the sailors could surf. The less experienced sailors had difficulties with that. Soon the first retired and came into the harbour. The diehards went on and enjoyed the wind. 
On the water the battle went on. After the races experiences were exchanged and strong stories told. The jury had a lot of work with the protests.
Not everyone came in one piece ashore. One of the Flash sailors gave up here race to rescue a fellow sailor who fall unconscious in the water after he was hit by his boom. She held his head out of the water until the rescue arrived. Great how sailors help each other. On her way to the harbour an other sailor was hit by her boom. Both sailors stay in bed with an heavy concussion.

Optimist family day:
The family day was an enormous success. A lot of children were there and had a very good time during the several activities. They made beautiful pies and Optimists, etc. Prolongations can be made for next year!

Bingo:
Yesterday evening the bingo started one hour later. At 19.30 most children were present in the tent, but had to wait an other hour. Most sailors were late ashore, there for the schedule was changed. There were many nice prices, but who won the big price wasn’t known by release of the daily news.
