DUTCH YOUTH REGATTA 2014

It has been a fantastic Regatta again!

This year more than 750 boats with more than 900 sailors from 20 countries were present. The event is meant for competitive sailors who go for the Open Dutch Championship in a good and sportive atmosphere in the Optimist, Optimist Benjamin, Laser 4.7, Laser Radial Youth, 420, 29’er, Cadet, Splash, Techno 293 en RS:X Youth classes. The DYR has gained a good reputation between large international Regattas. It is the aim of the organization to continue or even further improve its good name.

Until the very last race we have seen concentrated sailing to reach for the top ranking. The weather has been treating us very well this year with really fantastic conditions and good winds the first three days. Sunday was quite a different day with little wind but still good conditions for one more race on most of the courses.

Thanks to the input of the Class organizations, all volunteers, Camping It Soal, beach pavilion IJsselmeerzicht, sponsors and friends, the Royal Netherlands Yachting Union and the race committees, the organization went very well. Unfortunately however, this year Murphy’s law struck us in really all elements of scoring. In the Optimist class this resulted in a lot of unease, which is of course unpleasant for the Optimist sailors.
The experience of this year and the analysis that has taken place in the meantime gives the organization the possibility to make improvements.

We received a lot of compliments from the international sailors! They are looking forward to join the DYR 2015!

For everyone who has helped to make the Dutch Youth Regatta 2014 a great youth sailing regatta:
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!

Sailors, coaches, accompanying persons, parents, sponsors, volunteers and all others:

SEE YOU AGAIN DURING THE DUTCH YOUTH REGATTA 2015 !

14 – 17 May 2015
